Overview

An Integrative Approach to Depression & Anxiety

Depression and anxiety are among the most common and most treatable conditions in primary care. At Connect2-wellness, mental wellness care is approached holistically — with medications when clinically indicated, and always alongside evidence-based non-pharmacological strategies.

Lora Betron Campos, FNP-BC understands depression from personal experience. After her divorce, she found that participating in marathons and triathlons — and the community that came with them — provided significant relief from depression. She lost over 30 pounds in the process. That lived knowledge shapes how she approaches every mental wellness patient in California.

Mental health is inseparable from physical health. Obesity, inactivity, poor sleep, and chronic stress all contribute to depression and anxiety. At Connect2-wellness, these connections are addressed together through integrated, compassionate care delivered entirely via telehealth.

Our Approach

A Multi-Dimensional Approach to Mental Wellness

Mental wellness is not solved by a single pill or a single visit. Connect2-wellness treats the whole picture.

Clinical Assessment

Thorough evaluation using validated screening tools (PHQ-9, GAD-7), medical review to rule out contributing physical causes, and creation of a clinical diagnosis and treatment plan.

Medication Management

Prescribing and managing antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications when clinically indicated, with careful monitoring, dose adjustments, and education about what to expect.

Mindfulness & Yoga

As a FitFlow yoga instructor, Lora prescribes specific movement, breathing, and mindfulness practices that are clinically shown to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Community Connection

Lora connects patients to community wellness events, group activities, and collaborative practitioners — because social connection is one of the most powerful antidepressants available.

FAQ

Mental Wellness FAQ

Does Connect2-wellness diagnose and treat depression?
Yes. As a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Lora Betron Campos, FNP-BC can evaluate, diagnose, and treat mild to moderate depression and anxiety for patients in California. This includes clinical assessment, medication management when appropriate, and holistic wellness guidance including mindfulness and movement therapy.
What's the evidence for using exercise and yoga to treat depression?
Extensive clinical research supports regular aerobic exercise as an effective treatment for mild to moderate depression, with effects comparable to antidepressant medication in some studies. Mind-body practices including yoga have demonstrated measurable reductions in cortisol, improvements in mood, and reduced anxiety symptoms. At Connect2-wellness, these are prescribed as part of a comprehensive plan — not as replacements for medication when medication is indicated.
Will I need to be referred to a psychiatrist?
Most cases of mild to moderate depression and anxiety can be effectively managed in primary care. If your condition requires more specialized psychiatric evaluation — such as bipolar disorder, psychosis, or complex medication management — Lora Betron Campos, FNP-BC will provide a warm referral to a psychiatrist while continuing to coordinate your overall primary care in California.
Is telehealth effective for mental health treatment?
Research consistently shows that telehealth is effective for mental health care, including depression and anxiety treatment, medication management, and wellness counseling. For many patients, the privacy and convenience of receiving care from home actually reduces barriers to seeking help and improves treatment adherence. Connect2-wellness provides confidential telehealth mental wellness visits throughout California.
How does obesity relate to depression, and can treating both together help?
Obesity and depression have a bidirectional relationship — each increases the risk of the other. Chronic inflammation, sleep disruption, reduced physical activity, and social stigma associated with obesity all contribute to depressive symptoms. At Connect2-wellness, treating both together through integrated care — including medical weight management and mental wellness support — often produces better outcomes than treating either condition in isolation.
